You don't have to spend a lot of money to get great skin. Regular good skin care is the key to beautiful skin. Use these simple skin care techniques to give your skin a healthy glow:

Good Skin Care
  • Eat right
  • Wash skin properly
  • Avoid clogged pores
  • Apply a natural facial mask
  • Remove blackheads naturally

Daily skin care is an important part of looking your best. Many people who enjoy learning about makeup techniques often overlook this simple fact. By properly nourishing your skin with a healthy lifestyle and good skin care, your skin will look great even if you don't apply any makeup at all.

Many people think that an effective daily skin care routine requires purchasing tons of expensive products to prevent or reverse the signs of aging, skin blemishes, or outbreaks. In reality, there is no cheaper and more effective method of simple skin care than eating a proper diet, and using just a few natural products for your skin. You can buy those expensive products if you choose, but you'll be surprised to learn the variety of skin care products you can find right in your own refrigerator.

Here are some simple skin care techniques for healthy, vibrant skin:

Eat Right

The principles of healthy eating are simple. Eat low saturated fat, high fiber, nutrient dense foods like whole grains, legumes, and fruits and vegetables. These nutrient packed foods will help your skin look vibrant and young. Make sure to drink plenty of water to flush and cleanse your body's tissues.

Dr. Perricone offers an excellent diet rich in antioxidants and Omega-3's for not only rejuvenating our skin, but our bodies as well. I've personally incorporated the principles of his diet into my eating and can say it works to keep away the signs of aging. Check out Dr. Perricone's books here to the right. Anyone of them will help you rejuvenate your face and body.

Wash Your Face

One of the best things you can do in your daily skin care routine is to wash your face each night before you go to bed. This allows your pores to breathe and repair itself while you sleep. You never want to wake up in the morning and apply makeup to unwashed skin. If you like, apply a light moisturizer each night, but make sure it won't clog those pores.

I use my Clarisonic once a week for a good deep cleaning. It's now the foundation of my good skin care routine and I've noticed a dramatic difference in my skin since I've started using this. It not only exfoliates the skin, it helps reduce fine lines and lets moisturizers penetrate better.

Choose the Right Foundation

If you suffer from acne, clogged pores can seriously aggravate this condition. This is why you should never just buy the first foundation you see on the store shelf. Make sure to use a light, quality foundation that won't clog your pores.

Natural Facial Mask

Use a natural facial mask to revive your skin and give it a healthy glow. Create the mask using a tablespoon of Fuller's Earth, plus a tablespoon each of honey and mashed papaya. Create a paste and apply to your face. Leave the mask on for up to twenty minutes, then rinse with lukewarm water. Make sure not to use very cold or very hot water, since this can irritate or damage your skin.

Remove Blackheads Naturally

To make a natural blackhead removal solution, boil one cup of water and add three drops of iodine and a teaspoon of Epsom salt. Dissolve the ingredients, and allow the mixture to cool until it is lukewarm. Wet a cotton ball with the mixture, and dab on your blackheads. Next, gently squeeze the blackhead with clean hands and a gauze pad. Then apply a light moisturizer.

Dermalogica offers excellent products. I especially love their facial masks because they not only remove blackheads, they clarify your skin too. They also have have masks that rehydrate and refresh skin after a nice clarifying mask. Check out some of my favorite Dermalogica products below.

These basic products form the foundation of a good skin care routine. Make these tips a part of you daily skin care routine, and you'll soon have healthier skin than you ever thought possible.
