Learn How to Clean Walls
Fast and Easy

I never thought I’d have to know how to clean walls. Why clean walls when you can just paint?

Well, two episodes happened right after I had freshly painted our home. I had to clean our kitchen walls after I set the oven on fire and I had to clean our son’s bedroom walls after I got a little overzealous with the vaporizer medicine in the humidifier one night.

It’s amazing how bad you can screw up when you’re tired! At least no one was hurt.

Not wanting to have to repaint, I used the following methods to clean the walls in these two rooms with great success.

Gather your cleaners and supplies

  • Two buckets (one for cleaning solution and one for a clean water rinse)
  • Two sponges (one for cleaning solution and one for a clean water rinse)
  • If your walls are rough in texture, don’t use a sponge, use old socks instead
  • Micro fiber cloth
  • Cleaning solution of ½ cup vinegar, 1 cup ammonia, ¼ cup baking soda and 1 gallon of warm to hot water
  • Rubber gloves

Fill one bucket with cleaning solution and one with clean warm to hot water

Dust or vacuum the walls

Work from the bottom to top (dirty water will not drip down over dirty walls causing streaks)

Work a section at a time

Wet your sponge an apply the cleaning solution to the wall

Work the wall from bottom to top in overlapping sections

Grab your other sponge and use for a clean water rinse

After several sections, dry any excess water on the walls with a micro fiber cloth
