Wellness for Women for a
Life in Balance

Having a balanced life is difficult for many people in this frantic and chaotic world. This is largely due to the cell phone constantly ringing, having to run errands with the kids and a myriad of other problems that may come up throughout the day.

In order for a woman to have a life in balance she has to take care of her total self. This will help her become more engaged in life instead of feeling unbalanced and stressed.

Emotional Wellness

When you are emotionally well, you are free from anxiety and fear. A good way to find emotional wellness is to learn to meditate or pray. I like to pray, even if it's just a minute, I pray for whatever I may need that day. Praying calms and centers me making me a better mom overall.

To bring your life in balance, you can start your day with a few minutes by yourself to contemplate what you want out of your day. Instead of jumping out of bed and running to get the kids started, take this time for yourself and you will be on your way to a life in balance. Once you have taken a few minutes to consciously set your day in motion, proceed through it as you have planned as much as possible.

Physical Wellness

To live a life in balance it is important to do some form of exercise. Find something that is interesting to you. If you don't like to exercise, then try a lot of different activities until you find one you like.

Life In Balance

Go swimming a couple of times a week, or use a treadmill. Join a gym and try some of their exercise classes. And, don't be self conscious! Think about it, no one cares what you look like… really, I'm not kidding. If anything, they'll be saying, "Good for her!"

I used to be so self conscious about going to the gym, then one day it dawned on me, do I care what others look like when they exercise? Or, better yet, why should I care what others think of me? So, no one cares and you shouldn't either. Besides, the feeling you get from mustering up all that courage and trying a new exercise class will be exhilarating!

So, whatever makes it fun for you, find a way to become more fit. Also, eat a diet rich in fruit, vegetables, a little meat and lots of water in between. This will make sure you balance your physical self.

Spiritual Wellness

Spiritual wellness is so important to a life in balance. Everyone needs a center, something to believe in, something to belong to and identify with, and this is different for many people.

Typically if we're raised with a religious background we tend to at some point in our lives return to that. If that doesn't work for you, then find a religion that does. You will know when you find the right religion because it will feel right, you'll feel like you belong, and will be at peace.

Spiritual wellness rounds us out, giving us an outlet to lay our burdens on, a center from which all our actions and decisions come from, and a peace that we are loved and cared for.

Social Wellness

Take time to have a social life! This can be difficult to almost impossible if you're a mom, but it's really important to have some "you time". Whether you are a mom of one or inundated with children and family matters, taking time with friends is essential to having a balanced life.

Friends bring richness to life that being alone cannot meet all the time. They give us a "newness or freshness" that we can take back to our families.

Make a phone call and reach out to a friend. As a mom, it's almost impossible to use the phone with kids running around. It's like they know to start acting up as soon as we get on the phone. But, it's important to take the time to reach out to a friend even if it's only for a minute and say hi, make lunch plans, etc.

Every once in a while I am guilty of not calling my friends, so I make a list at the beginning of the week of people to call and then I make it a goal to get through the list by the end of the week!

So, go to a movie, hang out at the coffee shop, do something that will take you away from the trials and tribulations of everyday life.

Keys To A Balanced Life

Balancing your life means taking control of it and redesigning it in the way that you want it to go. When you have an overall balance that includes your body, mind and spirit, you can be sure that you are doing it well because you will feel good physically and mentally.

If any one of the areas becomes falls out of balance pull yourself back, look at what's out of balance, and take the time work on it.

Learning to live a balanced life will make exciting things happen that you could never anticipate.
