kitchen pantry

Does it make sense to turn my pantry into storage for dishes and use kitchen cupboards into storage for food? I can never keep the pantry organized and things seem to end up in bags on the pantry floor because of lack of space. We're a family of 7 and growing.

Comments for Moving from Pantry to Cabinets
by: Samantha

Yes, definitely! Organizing has no hard and fast rules other than to keep in mind and be flexible as it changes as your needs change. In other words you'll need to take a look at what works and what doesn't for your family and adjust accordingly. I re-organize my kitchen cabinets every few months or so as things and needs change around here.

Now as always, before you move from pantry to cabinets, declutter, categorize what you have left over and organize those categories. Oh, and one last thing, you mentioned bags. Bags are hard to impossible to organize. Try and contain things in containers that allow you to see what's inside, stack, and or label. Baskets work great too at containing things. If I have bags of rice, beans, or pasta, I contain them in baskets. It just looks neat and is an efficient use of space. Let me know if you have other questions.
